News: ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT ORGANIZATION-2008-09

The Academic Enrichment Organization (AEO) is in its sixteenth year of supporting St. Bonaventure High School's academic program. As the school continues to be dedicated to higher education AEO continues to fund raise, support, and honor all faculty and staff who enrich our students lives. AEO was first started by the Prosser family who believed SBHS needed a group in place to help in carrying out the curriculum where it was needed. Similar to the Athletic Booster Club, the school gave birth to the Academic Booster Club.

Many of the efforts of this organization helped fund teachers with up to date teaching materials which then benefited student learning. Other areas included organizing academic awards ceremonies to honor students for outstanding achievement, and to support academic clubs.   AEO has hosted book fairs and the Academic Awards Banquet.  Our most popular event is Einstein & Wine.  At this event local Ventura County restaurants host a table serving specialty appetizers from their menus with are then paired with wine which is donated by Southern California Wine Company.  Along with the tasty snacks, a live and silent auction is held along with a wine class highlighting a certain type of wine and the region from which it originates.  Our Einstein & Wine event from 2008 helped fund the complete remodel of the SBHS’s library.  In 2007, proceeds from the event helped purchase and install projectors in each of the classrooms, along with purchasing other computers.  This year AEO will be working to help fund a new science lab.

AEO is an ongoing membership and commitment to our students and to higher education. All participation and donations directly help SBHS bring a quality education to our students.  This, in turn, creates maturing students who are active Christians, and are socially responsible people as well as a life long learner.
