Jack Richards
Head Varsity Coach
4th year Girls Volleyball Coach Jack Richards comes to St. Bonaventure with a sparkling resume, having served sixteen years down the street at Buena High School, the past ten as head coach, where he led the Bulldogs to regional volleyball prominence, and coached three daughters through the program. Janee played at Cal State Stanislaus, Lauren played at Concordia (Oregon) and Jacki is playing at Cal Lutheran. Coach Richards posted an impressive (.656) winning percentage and took Buena to three CIF (DIV I) semi-final appearances, winning CIF and Channel League Coach of the Year honors in 2004. Coach Richards received prestigious recognition for his dedication and leadership in youth sports in 2006, when he was named a Phil Jackson Positive Coaching Alliance finalist. He led the Seraphs to the CIF-SS play-offs in his first two seasons.
Jack is a senior sergeant and public information officer for the Ventura Police Dept., and has been married to wife Renee for 28 years. He has played volleyball on the beach, in the gym, and even in the California Police Olympics, where he medaled twice! He is a former Director of the Channel Islands VB Club, and has attended numerous NCAA coaching events. His talented and experienced staff includes Varsity assistant and JV Coach Cameron Ohl who played at Northern Arizona University.
Coach Richards relishes the opportunity for a "fresh start" and the challenge of building great volleyball tradition by bringing "the whole package" to a new school with excellent potential and a proven tradition of excellence in several high profile prep sports. he is known to be tough and demanding, highly knowledgeable, and a great motivator. The Goal: a Championship Banner to hang above the Athletic Center Volleyball Court.
