Chris Reutinger
Head Varsity Coach
Coach Chris Reutinger has led the Seraph ladies to a CIFSS Division Runner-up finish his first two years at Saint Bonaventure, after coaching ten very successful seasons (both boys and girls programs) at Malibu High School. Mr. Reutinger comes from a San Diego tennis family. His mother was a California State doubles champion in 1936, and a captain of the U.C. Berkeley Womens Tennis Team in 1937. Chris studied tennis with Davis Cup Champion Lester Stofen from 1955 to 1960, and had lessons with legendary Wimbledon Ladies Champ Maureen Connolly during the 1950s. Chris graduated from Cal in 1970, and has been an avid lifelong tennis player. He is currently a Benchmark 4.5 USTA League player. Coach Reutinger and his wife, Phyllis, who is an assistant coach here, were the Los Angeles District USTA Leagu Coordinators from 2000 to 2005. He began coaching tennis at Malibu in 1997, and was known as "Coach R" because his name was "too hard to pronounce" . He soon began spending most of his time with the girls, and built that team from the ground up to win back-to-back CIF titles in 2003 and 2004. During his tenure at Malibu, the boys and girls teams won eleven League titles between them. Coach R plans to win a(nother) CIF Championship at St. Bonaventure by inspiring our Seraph girls (and boys, as he will be taking over Boys Tennis duties this upcoming season) to strongly share in that goal. The Reutingers make their home in Camarillo
