St. Bonaventure has nearly 150 computers on campus. Of these, only a few are not on the school's network. There are 80 computers available for student use in the Computer Lab, the SBHS Resource Center, the Yearbook room and two Science Labs. Every teacher's desk and all staff desks have a computer. There are currently 11 servers maintaining two local domains and two of our three websites.
Every teacher, staff member and student has a unique login ID. Student IDs are more restrictive and are more closely monitored. All student internet access is filtered and recorded. Student documents and folders are routinely checked. Teachers and staff members are allowed to access student grades, attendance and information. Students and parents may access student grade, attendance and assignment information online. Faculty and staff are also provided with e-mail and voice-mail. Students are not allowed to access their e-mail on campus.
The three websites that are maintained by St. Bonaventure High School are www.saintbonaventure.com, www.sbhshome.net, and www.sbhshome.org. The first site has general information about St. Bonaventure. It has contact information, the school calendar, athletic schedules, etcetera. It also includes the teachers' class webpages for students (and parents) to access handouts, syllabi, videos, presentations, and other various information for specific class needs. The second website is where teachers post their grades and where parents and students can access their grading and attendance information. The third website is St. Bonaventure's Library Book Catalog.
Most of the school's computers are running on the Windows XP operating system, although some of the faculty and staff machines are running on Windows Vista. All school computers have Microsoft Office installed. Students are allowed to use the school's computers during the day when they are not busy in class. The Library with its twenty student computers is open from 7:30 AM ~ 3:30 PM. |
