Microsoft Office (1 semester) Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

This course is delves into the inner workings of the four major programs of Microsoft Office XP so students can use and integrate these programs to design and create professional grade documents, reports, and presentations.

1. Word, a word processor
2. Excel, a spreadsheet
3. Access, a database
4. PowerPoint, a slideshow program.
Students gain practical experience in how these programs are used. File management is an inherently integral part of all these programs and students are instructed in managing files and folders as organizational tools.

Computer Aided Drafting Design (2 semesters) Grades 10, 11 and 12

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Geometry.

Students use the drafting software AutoCAD to create and edit geometric shapes to construct virtual objects in two and three dimensional environments. Drafting basics to 3D solids modeling and architectural construction practices are covered. Students use 2D and 3D coordinate systems extensively to create and place objects in virtual space.

Computer Science 1 (1 semester) Grades 10, 11 and 12

Prerequisite: Strong math background and approval of teacher.

Students use Visual Basic 6.0 and Object Oriented Programming language to create programs. Students are versed in using controls that are commonly used in Windows based programs, such as command buttons, option buttons, text boxes, and labels. Students will also write code controls as well as manipulate their properties. Computer Science 1 may fulfill the G requirement.

Computer Science 2 (1 semester) Grades 11 and 12

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Computer Science 1; approval of teacher.

Students use Visual Basic 6.0 writing code to manipulate objects and controls. Programming techniques such as loop, user events, functions, and using modules are explore. Computer Science 2 may fulfill the G requirement.

Teacher's Aide Computer Science Department Grade 12

Prerequisite: Approval of teacher.

The aide will assist students of computer classes, write programs, assist with school computer projects, keep computer environment clean and orderly.
